My beliefs

I’m more science than faith, I’m more karma than bread and booze. I’m not an asshole, I’m just a little confused.

Former Workers of the World

Been a long gap since my last one, for several reasons, so here’s the latest installment of my musical adventure. My moniker is now Stranger if you’re interested.

Wham! Bam! No more RIAA-man!

Is George Michael’s decision to release his future songs for free the beginning of a new intellectual property trend? I doubt it…people get into music as much for the (temporary) fame, as the money.

It would be nice though to see the music that would be made without the reigns of industry.

Nefisa album release…

Shout out and props to Yoshi (owner of nefisa) on the release of his album ‘From a Western Box’.

Check out the site and buy the CD.

Sharks. Money-grabbing sharks.

Who wouldn’t want to be a rock/pop/rap star?

Whenever I talk to a band who are about to sign with a major label, I always end up thinking of them in a particular context. I imagine a trench, about four feet wide and five feet deep, maybe sixty yards long, filled with runny, decaying shit…

For further support…Courtney Love does the math

Jay-Z: Black Album [*****]

BIG album!!!

…and i don’t usually say that about HOVA. I’m feeling this from top to toe, for real…

I must admit that i haven’t always been his biggest fan…but Jigga’s retirement album’s smacked the present Hip-Hop benchmark clean out the park (not including Andre 3000 of course…but then that’s just different).

Music business hate me cause the industry ain’t make me
Hustlers and boosters embrace me and the music I be makin
I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars
They criticized me for it yet they all yell “HOLLA!”
If skills sold, truth be told, I’d probably be
lyrically, Talib Kweli
Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
But I did five mill’ - I ain’t been rhymin like Common since
When your cents got that much in common
And you been hustlin since, your inception
Fuck perception go with what makes sense
Since I know what I’m up against
We as rappers must decide what’s most impor-tant
And I can’t help the poor if I’m one of them
So I got rich and gave back, to me that’s the win/win
So next time you see the homey and his rims spin
Just know my mind is workin just like them…
… rims, that is

We’ll see now if Nas can step up to the plate with something hot.

Speak of the devil…

Previously i was talking about Howard Dean’s impression of James Brown. I was wrong…there’s no-one who could imitate the great man. Ha-heeeaaaayyY!!!

“I Believe I Can Fly” by R Kelly

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
